The statue in Lumsdaine Drive, Freshwater,
is of Duke Kahanamoku, an Olympic champion who introduced
surfboarding to Australia when Alan was five months
old. Hardly anyone knows what Duke Kahanamoku’s
first name was, but now you do. It was Duke.
